Just occurred to me that while both iPhone X and Galaxy S9 have 5.8" display, the aspect ratio is different between these two devices. iPhone X has 19.5x9 aspect ratio, while the Galaxy has 18.5x9. Does this mean that the display on the iPhone X is narrower and taller? Does anyone know the exact measurements of the screen on both devices?
[doublepost=1523289126][/doublepost]Oh I just found an online calculator... assuming that it's accurate

iPhone X: 7.3" height x 3.4" width
Galaxy S9: 7.2" height x 3.5" width

Here is a side by side comparison. More info in the link at the bottom.

Unfortunately out of the 7.3" in height 0.4" is taken up by the notch which makes the X have less usable screen than S9

Wouldn't the Galaxy technically have the same amount of wasted space the notch takes up since the Galaxy has the status bar across the entire top of the screen? Whereas the iPhone utilizes the sides of the screen around the notch as the status area?

But the S9 status is about half the height of the notch. In full screen mode, the X notch is nearly unusable thus is wasted.

Furthermore, you can set immersive mode in S9 where the status bar auto hides giving you even more screen area.

The only other difference to that is the S9 does not have the dual Camera like the Apple device does...

Plus immersive mode is not a setting is it?
(That requires a root or special app correct?)
[doublepost=1523497657][/doublepost]—edit saw you said status bar not the notification bar...

S9 has dual aperture which gives you much better low light photo.
Plus S9 has a much better front camera.

Software side, camera app is so much better with plug in shooting modes. S9 (also S8) can shoot video/photo with both back and front camera simultaneously (with many picture-in-picture options). Iphone camera app is so mediocre.

You can turn on auto-hide for navigation/notification bar for ALL apps with ADB. No root required.
Some apps like browser supports the immersive mode by default.

Plus there are many gesture-based apps with better flexibility/customization than iphone X gesture system. This makes the s9 immersive mode so much more functional. I am using pie control which allows swiping in from left/right screen edge and depending on angle of swipe activates task mgr, back, home or notification. This allows me to use the phone one-handed much more easier than X.

Did not know the s9 can use both cameras at the same time.

Either way portriat photos on x were amazing.

Since the s9 does not have the dual camera has anyone tried the pan focus option how is that?

Have you seen the video? The S9+ front facing camera is clearly sharper than the iPhone X.
Are you serious? First of all its from that specific video I took the screenshots and second of all he says in the video himself that the pictures captured with the iPhone X is sharper.

If one can get high def audio from the headphone jack on the S9 then I might go for it. I enabled developer options on the demo at Best Buy and there are audio settings so maybe but I did not have any headphones with me to use so maybe that is why options were greyed out.
