first off since all results i found searching mention this is an icloud process, i do not have icloud photo storage enabled, it does not say restoring from icloud, just 'restoring'

i opened up my camera roll to find it halved in size and missing all folders, slowly restoring pictures, then suddenly halting at roughly 60% of the way there, then resuming, but i did not see any more photos being recovered, rather it simply began duplicating everything from starting from newest going down to oldest as i type, and pictures i have long since manually deleted are reappearing in the 'recently deleted' utility

editing down and addition after its resolved: a side effect of this seems to be that the duplicates utility is gone and all picture location data is gone, most or seemingly all other metadata is intact

also mods move this if i put this in the wrong section

Do you have backups - in iCloud or via a computer? If you’re not using iCloud Photos, Camera Roll is part of the normal backup so a restore from a time stamp before the problem started should sort it.
