Does anyone know if iPhone Xs / Xs Max is 10W wireless charging capable?

Can't find any info on this 2 weeks after the announcement. Apple did state that the new flagship phones support faster wireless charging, without giving away specs.

Lots of pads / stands out there support 10W for a small premium over the 7.5W or 5W ones, so it would be helpful for many first time wireless charging pad buyers to get clarity on this.

It does not support 10w charging. Just 7.5w but is more efficient so achieves a full charge 30 mind quicker.

Confirmed using a USB port watt tester.

But your charger also needs to support 7.5w. Most do 5 or 10 and not the inbetween

Thanks. I was afraid that would be the answer.

As @Mercenary stated it doesn’t support 10w quick charge only 7.5w for now. The improvements with the new phones come from a 100% copper wireless pickup coil which is more efficient than the coil used in the 8 series/X which is made of a mix of alloys. It’s possible that 10w could come with a software update down the road just like 7.5w did.

Just bought the Mophie Stream Pad+ at Best Buy. Per Mophie user manual:

“The Charge Stream Pad+ is optimized to fast charge compatible Samsung and Apple smartphones. For a faster charge the pad will deliver up to 7.5W of power to compatible Apple smartphones and up to 10W of power to compatible Samsung smartphones. Other Qi-compatible smartphones will charge at the standard Qi charging power of up to 5W.”

Ah, so if you have a 10w charger that doesn’t support 7.5w charging, your phone will charge at 5w?

Also... Apple says that the XS series charges faster than last year's models. The only way this could be possible to ti increase the wattage. They have to support 10.

It doesn’t.
It’s explained at 3:50
Plus, it was tested by usb port tester from another forum member who posted in this very thread

I thought it just draws the current it needs and supports. If you have a charger that delivers higher amperage it would still draw the “in between” current.

I fast forwarded through it and all I saw was a guy destroying an iPhone.
He explained that the improvement comes from the 100% copper wireless charging coil vs. the mix alloy one used on the X and 8 series which is less efficient. Plus, @Mercenary posted he tested using a usb port tester and it was 7.5 watts (post #6 of this thread). I agree, he is destroying what used to be a very nice phone.

Not true see note #8
Pure copper wire coil passes on more energy than composite coil. Less loss of 7.5 watts to heat. So XS/XS Max phones charge faster with same wattage, 7.5w.
