There isn't a lot of info about the camera in the new iPhones. On the specs page the camera on the X and XS have the same number of pixels and the same aperture as the camera on the iPhone X. However it also says "deeper and larger pixels" on the XS camera description and it says "faster sensor". And also some new image processing (software?) features.

Would anyone like to speculate what all of this actually means? I assume the XS/plus will have a new CCD module, and in general I'd rather see a higher quality CCD than more pixels, so this could possibly be a good thing. I assume there's no way to know until the phones ship but feel free to speculate away on how much better this new camera may or may not be.

basically what it means is there will be basically no visual differences between the x and xs besides maybe a very tiny change in the colors. you'll see that when comparisons come out in 2 weeks.

You mean colors in the photos?

Difference camera sensors can provide dramatically different results in image quality, noise, etc. not just color.

For example: http://www.bobatkins.com/photography/digital/Canon_EOS_5D_MkIII_vs_Nikon_D800_dynamic_range.html
(in particular this image shows the noise profile of the Canon and Nikon cameras being compared here: http://www.bobatkins.com/photography/digital/D800_5D3/d800_vs_5D3_5_stops_under_iso100.jpg)

Now whether the new iPhone's sensor will be much different from the old one is the question...

I am sure some comparisons will come out before the release. Very interested to see how the X stacks up to the XS. I do not think there will be a huge difference.

yea it won't. when's the last time an iphone camera had a big upgrade? from 4-4s. that's it.
