iPhone X iPhone XS display/brightness flickering

so I posted yesterday I noticed my XS display is not as bright as my X. Same settings etc. no big deal

However what is annoying is the brightness is weird. No auto brightness.

Sometimes the screen will be bright then it like flashes and gets dimmer. It’s been happening the last 2 days. Can’t tell if it’s ios 12 or hardware related. Anyone else??
