Hi everyone,

This afternoon my Xs Max suddenly started having screen issues, where 1) if I would touch the screen it would think I am touching it someplace else and thus it performs actions I don't want, and/or 2) not recognizing touch at all.

I have no clue why this is happening as it's been in a case always, never falls and has had a screen protector on since the day I bought it over 2 years ago.

I tried doing the following actions but none of them work:

  • A soft reset
  • A hard reset
  • Reset all settings
  • Updated the firmware again to 14.1 through my mac (which I already had)
Getting on here for help is kind of my last resort. Is there anything else I can do or will I be needing to go and get the screen replaced (which obv I don't want to do as it's expensive and the phone is already over 2 years old so makes no sense to re-invest in it).

Hoping someone can help me! Cheers!

About the only thing I can think of to try is do a dfu restore using iTunes and setup as new without using your backup. If it doesn't fix it you can just restore again using your backup and everything will be back to where you started. Then you can decide if you want to get it repaired from Apple

Could be the touch controller on your device giving out. Didn't Apple have a service program for some of the larger devices a few years ago with similar touch problems?

Hi guys, thanks so much for replying! I couldn't get the phone in DFU mode so I restored (deleted all media etc) using recovery mode and the issue still remains. Is there a difference between a DFU and recover restore?
