Other iPhone XS Missing That One Key Feature

I know people usually say ‘S’ updates are boring but there’s always at least one key feature it has.

4S: Siri, camera upgrade
5S: Touch ID, 64-bit, slo mo video
6S: second gen Touch ID, 3D Touch
XS: ????
X to XS is missing that one key feature. Pretty disappointing. But hey at least we got that gold color they held out on last year :rolleyes:

The camera sensor is bigger, 1.4µm, up from 1.22µm

that's good. It seemed like the same from the comparisons.
In any case, there isn't a significant upgrade from X to Xs

Better camera, better processor, better battery life are enough for me to upgrade.

Add in larger screen size with HDR & Dolby vision, stereo recording, faster Face ID, faster network speeds, Bluetooth 5.0, better water/dust resistance, stronger glass, faster wireless charging, and smart camera features (Smart HDR, adjustable depth of field/bokeh) and it’s a no brainer for me.

Disappointed with pricing this year as well as storage sizes and the 5W charger, but those are minor to me personally.

It will be interesting to see how some of the less-talked about/unclear features pan out, i.e. how this new glass compares to the X, benefits of Bluetooth 5.0, faster network speeds, and exactly how much faster wireless charging is. I can’t wait for the tear downs and benchmarks!
 
They just said it faster, not a second gen. Even the XS page just says it’s faster.

I hear you, I got an 8 Plus. That xs max is very tempting, especially when I do a lot of mobile gaming and YouTube watching on mine. Plus the camera on my phone is my main camera

Just not sure I can justify the huge initial cost

I haven’t heard this yet, which one is supposed to be faster?
 
I won't be buying one. I'm getting my 7+ replaced through extended insurance. Instead, I'll be spending the same amount on a gaming laptop which I need, not so much for gaming but intensive cpu applications.

if you shoot a lot in low light or night, it makes a huge difference. Don't you remember that thread from a few years ago with the blind photo test of various pics? Most people preferred Samsung and were in dismay once the results were published.

As far as the Pixel 2 goes, I'm not impressed with it. I prefer Samsung in low light. If the Pixel 2 was priced significantly lower than the S8, I'd be impressed, lol.

They did not tout Face ID as 2nd generation, because it is not. Even on Apple's website page where different iPhone models can be compared, it just says Face ID for all the X models. Keep in mind though that it took 2 years to go from first gen to second gen Touch ID.

Whereas if you compare the iPhone 6 with the 6S or later, it shows 'Touch ID" for the 6 and "Second generation Touch ID" for the 6S and later.

I see the point and agree that although there are clearly several all around enhancements, there does not appear to be a key feature on the Xs unlike the previous S phones.

Where is that info coming from? I haven’t seen it highlighted anywhere and would be interested to read more. Camera improvemenrs have always been the biggest upgrade motivator for me but I felt disappointed this year.. seemed like mostly software tweaks.

I skipped the X cause I wanted a plus version and got the 8 plus instead. I sold that to get the XS max, however, with the pricing I’ll be sticking to 64 gb.
 
The internals (CPU/GPU/Neural Engine) are pretty decent imo. Together with a now optimised IOS, they should fuse together nicely & result in a very slick interface.

Did anyone catch the amount of RAM in these phones??
 
So I had a thread on reddit earlier about how I went to Disney Springs a few weeks back with a friend at night and he had the Samsung I want to say S8 MAYBE sS9 and at night the pictures on his phone were absolutely amazing v my iPhone X, right off the back it was much brighter then the iPhone X which looked real dark, if there is not much to do with the sensor being bigger and some of you are saying it is software, did they fix this cause that is the only issue I personally have with iPhone is it takes unparalleled pictures in daylight but at night they are horrible compared to Samsung.


As far the new ability to control depth of field in the new phones, I would imagine they could have done this to the iPhone X via software update but chose not to in order to sell the new phones, is that right?

Are the new XR able to take advantage of Tmobile 600 MHz?


Is it worth the upgrade from iPhone X to XS or Max considering the upgrades for someone who is big on taking lots of pictures? Wondering if I should get the Max or the regular Xs or XR? Confused due to the fact that XR basically is just minus the OLED and one camera on the back and there is a big difference in price. Apple realistically does have the best screens even LCD on 7 was great.

Feedback and help is appreciated
