Other iPhone XS Shipping/Receiving Date?

This is my first time getting an iPhone on release day. If you do the shipping option, will it SHIP on the release date or will I RECEIVE it on the release date? Is shipping free? If I do in-store pickup is it guaranteed that the store will have it?

Receive on release date, if you get your order in on time. Free shipping. Never did in store pick up, so don’t know about that.

If you do in-store shipping, it is technically guaranteed as you have paid for it at that point. They hold it for a certain number of days.

I ordered in store pickup last year and set up a 5PM appointment. It turned out that I had time before work, so I went at store opening. They had no problem accommodating me. I did have to wait, but that's what you do on Launch Day, you wait...

I did in-store pickup when I preordered the X last year (ordered right as store went live). They have an allotted amount for each store and the Apple Store app / Apple.com won't let you order anymore from that particular location once they run out.

Pre-ordering for in-store pickup also lets you skip ahead of the regular lineup of folks who did not pre-order. They relegate a specific line just for pre-orders, and those people go first once the store opens.

Thanks for the information. I'm going to do shipping as the nearest store is a hour away and driving 2 hours and standing around doesn't seem like a good use of a day off. 1.5 more hours.
