iphone, yahoo & own domain !

Hi all, new to the iPhone but have a pretty good idea on how to use it.

One thing I can’t seem to find out after googl’ing and reading everywhere is a specific settingh for the mail setup for yahoo on the iPhone.

See mine works fine for my account, username@yahoo.com, but I want it to appear that the email is coming from my domain username@mydomain.com , I know this functionality is builr into the mail.yahoo.com webclient, but can't see any settings on the iphone to set this up !

Any ideas on how I can do this, prefer NOT to use POP though.

You want to be able to send your e-mails with the reply-to address as that of your own domain.

Sorry to say this...but there's no way to set a reply-to address on the iPhone.

What might work is if the domain is hosted by Yahoo...then it might let you set up a Yahoo push account for the iPhone. But I'm not sure about that.

Not sure if you would call it reply-to, as the reply-to addresses normally have the originating email address as well.

My phone is jailbroken, so will look at other mail apps, but guessing they don't have push for yahoo.

Reply-to address will mask the address you're sending from as the one you want people to reply to. People will see it as what you set it to - but that can also depend on the server.

If you've got your own domain for e-mail (or an SMTP server that can send out mail from your chosen address), then you can easily set up a second account on the phone and use that to send e-mail.

On firmwares >= 2.0 you can select the account you use to send a given message by tapping the "From:" field -- this way you can receive e-mail via Yahoo push and reply from your address. The only downside is you'll need to manually set this for every message, but that only takes a fraction of a second each time.

I do much the same thing (only with an Exchange account instead of a Yahoo one), and it works fine.

Yeah, thx, had though of that, but really like the idea of the emails being saved in my sent items. Guess i could do that and bcc myself and setup a rule to save them somewhere else !

How do u setup a second account without any pop/imap information in it, as it wants to validate it, in which case it want it download the email too ?

anyone else have any ideas on how to best tackle this problem ?

Hmm... well you'll need to give it something in the way of POP/IMAP settings. AFAIK it will let you proceed with bogus settings (although it will complain) -- so you could just give it localhost or something equally non-functional for the inbound server.
