iPhone3g gps on tmobile?

Hey, i just got an unlocked/jailbroken iphone for tmobile. While playing around with it, i turned off Edge services by changing the APN. I noticed, while on the maps app, that my GPS was still working! Can i continue to use this for free, or am i being charged for the GPS? thanks alot :)
 
The GPs will work even if there is not sim card in the iphone. The phone just needs data 3G/WiFi/Edge to load the maps. If you had an app like Tom Tom, you could use the iphone as a GPS w/o a sim card in it, as the maps are stored on the iPhone.
