iPhone3GS Mic (Broken - i think)

what are some ways to tell if your mic is broken.
i am still able to make phone calls and the other person is able to hear me but i recently recorded a video and there is absoloutly no sound. i made sure volume was on and everything and there is no sound, and beleieve me, there is sound being produced when this video was taken

any comments on this?

You could try Voice Control dialling (hold down home button until Voice Control opens), or download the Google Mobile app that has speech recognition. Either of these options would confirm if your mic is OK.

or try

open the voice memo app see if the needle moves when recoding and listen during playback. you can also try the google app speak to search.
