iphone5 or galaxyS4 and why?

It boils down to personal preference.
Do you like to be in the iOS ecosystem or do you prefer Google's ecosystem.
Android is more open and offers advantages because of that, but iOS is so well integrated with other apple services/products there's an advantage to that phone.
Try both and see which works/feels the best for you

Go down to your local high street outlet and try out the live working demo models.
If your family or friends have one have a play with their Galaxy s4
If your not in Apples eco system the choice is yours.

Do you like to tinker with your phone a lot. Do you want a bunch of bells, and whistles? If so, then go the GS4 route. There's enough tinkering that can be done, that you will have fun with it for a while. If you don't care about the bells, and whistles, and just need a powerful, yet portable device that allows you to get work done on, then go the iPhone 5S route. Wait for the 5S announcement in a week to make your decision.

iOS ecosystem is apple's services and products like iCloud which includes syncing contacts, calendar, etc. It also includes photo stream and iWork and of course music via iTunes.
Google ecosystem is similar, they have their own google docs, calendar music etc.
Check out the numerous threads and MacRumors news stories regarding this.
Bottom line is the S updates tend to be small incremental updates to the existing design. Research is your friend and there are plenty of resources here to help you make a definitive answer on this.

It's simple OP. What do YOU want out of a smartphone ?
If what YOU want out of your smartphone sways you to one or the other - there is your answer.
Other peoples personal preferences mean nothing all at the end of the day. We are not you, and it is you that has to use the device. YOU choose.

Yes you are right, but, one important thing i haven't stated is, im moving from a SonyEricsson K750i to a smartphone, so my experience with smart phones is zero, im not aware of what they are capable of, so in other words i cannot judge what will be of use to me!
As I mentioned research is your friend. Check out the phones and your local carrier store. See how they work, feel in your hand and what services are offered. If you're heavy into the Apple world, iOS may be better. If you don't care or like some of the flexibility of Android then go with that.
And neither can we. We do not know what your usage pattern will be - what apps you will want to run - what level of customisation you want - how you want it to be integrated into your existing mac hardware if you are mac based.
I will say only one thing - as a 'starter' smartphone (and I do not mean that in a derogatory fashion in any form); one which to learn you all the basics and get you up to speed quick smart - then it is hard to beat the iPhone or the choice of applications on the store.
But other than that it comes down to rudimentary basics such as do you prefer metal design and smaller form factor of the iphone or the glossier plastic and bigger screen of the S4.
Literally go to a store - hold both in your hand - see which you find most comfortable for you.
Other than that - either is a good phone.
