Don't post much here anymore and feel bad arriving because I'm in bother but my wife's iPhone 5 is in grave danger of being bricked in the next few days apparently and I'm desperate !

It used to be my iPhone and I joined the beta program so it is currently running 10.3.3. It has the problem I've read about where every time it opens the "New IOS update now available - please update from the beta.

However, when I try it tells me my system software is up to date. If I go to try to remove the 10.3.3 beta profile it isn't there. ( I have a suspicion that when I gave my wife the phone a couple of years ago I tried to remove the beta profile but obviously something has gone wrong with that).

I gather I have three days to get it updated to 10.3.4 or it will stop working. I need a way to go back to the last stable non beta software ( 10.3?) and then hopefully will be able to update it normally to 10.3.4.

Any help here would be gratefully accepted. I'm out of my depth !

I read the earlier news story and I don't believe that it will be bricked.

The story just mentioned that it wouldn't be able to access Apple services (iCloud, iTunes, etc).

I'll admit this is bad enough but it doesn't look like the iPhone 5 is getting bricked.

The story I read claimed that the iPhone 5 can be updated after Nov 3rd but that it's more difficult.

My advice is bring it to your Apple store now and they will help you for free.

Thanks. I may have to do that. Getting an error message when I try to restore. "Problem downloading software. Requested resource not found".

If you have the beta profile remove it, reboot it, then check and see if it allows the upgrade.

Thanks, guys. Eventually decided to bite the bullet, put the phone into recovery mode and it then downloaded the latest update no problem ( and first time!)

Armageddon has come and gone but our iPhone is safe and working. I’m curious about what effect it had in the end on phones that weren’t updated, though.
