I think I need some assistance here please..

I have the AT&T version of the IP5, ver 6.0 and was trying to update to 6.1 through iTunes. Well as it was in it's beginning stages of updating, it came with an error that I can't recall then got stuck in DFU mode.

I've googled and saw a couple of videos explaining to use Tiny Umbrella to kick it out of DFU. I downloaded the latest version of TU and it would not recognize that the phone was even connected..so nothing there.

I saw a video saying to download iREB, extract all of the files and use the .exe file to kick it out of DFU..nothing there either.

I've searched in here but may have missed any link that explains what to do in this circumstance.

Anyone know what I should do??

Thanks in advance.

You're not putting it in DFU mode properly.

Google or YouTube these steps it's simple and effective!

Okay.

So put it into DFU, then click restore in iTunes!

I looked up the video and followed these steps..

1. Turn off the phone

2. Hold both the Power and Home buttons for 10 Sec then release only the power button

3. Continue to hold the Home button until iTunes recognizes the device. I continued to hold it for an additional 60 sec.

iTunes still doesn't recognize the device.

Use this:

Connect USB

Hold home and power until it turns off
Keep holding both 3 more seconds
Release power while keeping Home in for another 10 seconds

Black iphone screen, itunes says an iphone in recovery(actually DFU, but itunes doesn't know the difference)

Ok I tried that and each time the phone turns on or off, the computer makes these settle sounds..

On - low/high
Off - high/low
Blk Screen - 3 short horn sounds

Using windows 7 computer.
It still has the blk screen right now but iTunes is not recognizing it.

You're not suppost to hear any sounds, try again exactly like saud, also turn of any anti-virus and try different pc/mac

Try another USB port. If that doesn't work, try other USB cables.

On windows, if you successfully get it into DFU mode, you'll hear a connect sound followed by an "installing drivers" message.

Actually, on Windows, you are supposed to hear sounds. In fact, you can use the sounds to time your button press. Something like:

Connect iDevice -- connect sound
Hold power and home together until you hear the disconnect sound
Let go of power and keep holding home until you hear connect sound again

At this point, Windows should give a "USB device detected, installing drivers" message.

I keep getting the same results. I hold down the power and home buttons for 10 sec, release the power button and get 3 short horn sounds and a black screen and iTunes not reconizing the device.

I change usb ports, hold the power and home buttons until it powers down and hold for an additional 3 seconds then release the power button while holding the home button and get 3 short horn sounds and a black screen and iTunes is still not recognizing the device. I'm following the steps exactly as you all are saying but still not getting anywhere.

I have an Apple Store about 20min away, I may just go to them.

I do have a question though. If I take it to them and they determine that I need another phone, what happens to all of my personal stuff on this phone?
