You can't. You will have to turn off iMessage.

Keep in mind though... You're sending text over the internet. Text.

You'd have to send thousands and thousands of these for it to even have a dent on your data.

You're still dont get.
You're sending text over data and that is a very tiny amound of data that it will use up out of your data plan.

would about my slide-up phone now?? i only have texting and calling...no data...how does it send texting then??

Not sure what you're asking.
What happens when you send a message from your iphone to your regural slideup phone?
Then it sends it as a regural text.
Imessages go thru only between iOS devices with firmware 5.0 and higher.

u said text sends over your data, my phone is a feature phone, and doesn't have data

Ugh... he's not saying you're sending TEXTS (text messages) over data, he's saying you're sending TEXT (letters and numbers) over data.
As in that's all it is. There's no formatting or pictures or whatever. So the data use is negligible.

FYI: "Text" was a term hundreds of years before "texting" was a thing.

SMS is not iMessage. SMS, or a "Text Message" is sent via a different means over the network. It's accounted for differently than "Data."

iMessages are send strictly over a data/internet connection, and can only be sent to other iOS devices, not just any phone that receives texts.

ya but texting doesn't use our data...imessage does when not on wifi

Think about what you are saying...a text message is 10¢....the actual data being sent is less than a byte per message. it would take hundreds of iMessages to use up a kilobyte....thousands to use a single megabyte. Which is better?

why do you have to be such a giant tool?? the way they phrased it, naturally made me think of texting.... when one heres text or texting in context with a phone they think TEXTING, as in typing words and sending to another person.

That's because you don't have any reading comprehension. It's ok, there are many others like you.

Don't be a tool back when you clearly misunderstood, while everyone else got the picture.
