Seeing as the design of Apple hardware followed closely with the iPod's (screen in the upper half-ish, leno jaw on the bottom, white finish, uber-metro-industrial, etc) doesn't it sound plausible that with the iPhone being the next greatest thing since BDS =D, this will follow suit?

Think about it. Rumors of eliminating the "leno jaw" for a more symetrical look. Imagine an Apple display, about as thick as the current iMacs, but black (yes!) with a strip of aluminum around it. More round edges, bright, raised, silver and shiny Apple logo somewhere. LED lighting. This would turn heads no doubt, just look how good the basic Macbooks look in black. It would definately make the statement Apple usually makes every 2-4 years.

I wish I was good at photoshopping, but imagine this (maybe someone can work on this, getting it going on the web). Take your basic iPhone image, put two together (eliminate the silver border converge), black out the screen images, increase to about 5-7 times the size, put a silver pedestal, add black and silver Mighty Mouse and keyboard and viola! I think we are on to something...

Think how many Mac computers were sold by the influence of the tiny iPod... (me included)...

that does sound very nice!

i think there is a bit much aluminium on the acds just now - they don't look very fun!

Apple product design solves packing problems in new and innovative ways. The current iMac design solved such a problem. The fact that it shares design elements with the iPod is as much coincidence as it is intent. Form follows function. You will be hard pressed to find an Apple design which was driven by aesthetic considerations alone. It is the difference between design and styling.

Oh don't get me wrong, if they do decide to go this route, it will be a continuation of the space saving, compact design with increase functionality, not just a purely aesthetic choice.

I was just thinking that if the iPhone does become the cultural hit Apple wants it to, that it may give Apple a new direction in design and presentation. Black may become the new white, for Apple at least...

The iPhone is SMELLY CORN FART! It's the biggest waste. I'd rather buy a PS3 for that money. Heck... I'd rather buy 600 $0.89 hamburgers from McDonalds.

You'd have "ONE" item. And I'd have "SIX HUNDRED MOTHER #*&$^^$ SNAKES ON MY MOTHER $(&^$)*& BURGER!"

Join me in saying, "Wow."

Ditto your "Wow". Makes you wonder why he was on this site, just to bash... I wish he could have something a little more productive... sad sad.
