Ordering an XS Max tonight and haven’t kept up on the decision with Verizon to start locking phones for a short period of time.

If you were to buy a phone from Best Buy, could you slip a Verizon SIM in first, apply the Verizon unlock policy, and have it be unlocked so I can stick my AT&T SIM in?

Is this even a concern now with the device having a physical + eSIM? Do we know if the eSIM will be unlocked out of the box and we can just activate it on whatever carrier we want whenever?

Thanks in advance!

no one knows for sure. The apple website says carrier financing for At&T and Verizon may be locked to the carrier.
