does anyone here know if iphoto 2 opens up with all of your library?? i hate how iphoto does that now!!! first of all it takes forever if you have over 2000 pictures not to mention you don't want all those to show up right away....did they fix this?

iPhoto stuff

Yes iPhoto does open up your whole library but it gives you the option to show your pictures in catgorized sections. Here is a screen shot of how I set up mine:

If you have any more questions let me know:)

I saw this tip on TechTV:

If you setup iPhoto to show the library organized by rolls, you can collapse the rolls so only the titles are shown. This causes iPhoto to bypass loading the pictures. Then, when you click on the arrow next to a roll, the photo's are loaded when they are displayed.

thanks for the tips...now just one more question..can you put photo's into iphoto without it having to import them all and copy them into its own folder?...i hate it when it does that

Altivec question

I keep hearing that iPhoto 2 is optimized for the G4. How beneficial is this compared to the G3? I'm deciding between and iBook and the new miniPowerBook, I think this question is the biggest deterent from buying my new computer.

Thanks for the help!

When in doubt go for the G4 processor. The G3 processor could probably be obsolete within a couple of years. If you are truly going to make an honest investment in a portable that new 12" G4 is worth it...

G4 & OS X

I keep hearing that iPhoto 2 is optimized for the G4. How beneficial is this compared to the G3?

I don't know how helpful it is specifically for iPhoto, but the entire OS X is optimized for the G4/AltiVec. That was the main reason I bought a TiBook instead of an iceBook. I thought it would be a better long-term investment - the G3 is long since outdated while the G4 can hold on a little while longer til the 970 comes out. :D

thanks

I suppose that makes the most sense. It's always hard to judge these things..

I'll be using iPhoto pretty heavily and, of course, everyone wants the best performance out of their machine. Now I get to wait for more reports on how the performance of the 12" PB is before I plunk down the money for one.

Thanks for the info. Oh, has anyone used Adobe Elements? I use Photoshop for little tasks at work but I haven't been able to demo Elements at all. Any opinions on that program??

Photoshop Elements

I bought a copy of Photoshop Elements after using the trial version, my brother is a designer and raves about photoshop, i'd had a full version upto 5.5 but neither he or i were gonna pay for an OX 10 compatible version (yet).

When I tried Elements it was perfect, powerful enough for my needs and incredible value, I got it in PC world, UK, for £49 by far the best price I found (you even get a good size manual), most box shifters wanted around £80.

You can get a trial version from http://www.adobe.com/products/tryadobe/main.jhtml#product=40

Its about 200MB but if your on narrowband try a magazine cover, I saw it on an issue of Macformat recently.

Give it a Whirl.....
