why use 2? 4 is much faster. even faster than iphoto 4 is iview media pro. its payware but man is it faster than iphoto and almost as good in features. even has some iphoto doesn't. I would say its at least 4-5 times faster than iphoto 4 and about 8 times faster than 2. seriously!

i assume he wanted the free version for a reason... (i agree iPhoto4 is much better than 2, but that's not what the poster asked...)

it should be in the OS CD your machine came with. (either Jaguar or Panther) otherwise, i don't think it's offered as a free download any more from apple.

I don't think your post was being criticized. It just seemed like you might not be understanding the reason that a person would want iPhoto 2 over iPhoto 4 and that was being explained. That's all.

Does anyone know where I can get iphoto2 from?

remove any existing iphoto from your /Applications folder and run software update.

it is almost annoying to always see the iphoto2 update in the list because i have moved my iapps to /Applications/iApps folder and the software update only sees the main application folder.

i had a lot of problems with my iPhoto 2 and removed it. i am a poor college student so even the $30 (with student discount) for iLife is a bit to much. i found http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=120188 where you can download iPhoto 2, but when i tried to install it, it said i already had a newer version, even though i had deleted iPhoto. i also tried running software update with nothing showing up for iPhoto. and i also tried running the software restore CD but it wanted me to re-install EVERYTHING, i couldnt find a place to only chose iPhoto. so, i eventually dragged an old copy of iPhoto from a backup i had made and that seemed to work. though i really want to start with a fresh copy b/c it was the old copy that caused me the problems in the first place. i deleted my photo library and the .plst (i think thats the extension) file in my library folder and imported all my pictures fresh. this seems to have fixed things, but i would still prefer a new copy of iPhoto. any other ideas?
