I would like to archive all my iPhoto images and store them on CD instead of using up so much HD space. I would like to still view at least thumbnails via iPhoto and then be able to lookup with CD I stored the images on...I don't need all of these images on my computer...

Is there a utility, hack or trick that people use to do this? - I can't seem to find anything as of yet...

Thanks for the help...v

Oh geezus, stupid question #12870834708237408.

It appears that iPhoto has a built-in archiving thing.

However, I don't understand just how, aside from burning the images to a CD, it actually arvhives the images. The main image is still left on the HD and it doesn't reference the CD-rom with the source file. It's a little mysterious to me...hmmm...

Archiving Digital Photos

Hi jvaska
one thing you have to remember is, nothing is a stupid question.
When a whole, published, library type book (not an e-book) has been written to use iPhoto it makes you wonder how we even get this far with these programs.

I and others have used iView MediaPro 2.5, there is a cheaper shareware version also(iView Multimedia) http://www.iview-multimedia.com/
this is a great program for cataloging large libraries of images, you create a "Catalog" with each library or CD, this catalog is great burned to Cd as well or like I did/do keep a copy on the hard drive, depending on the sizes of images and folders etc the catalog files can get quite large.
The beauty is you can delete the pics after burning and you have a reference to the CD as you double click the catalog pic on your hard drive.
hope this is some help
