I get this problem every now and then and no idea how to fix it without resorting to a restore

any ideas?

the attached photo is when i have my iphone selected and yes, there are photos on my iphone

i have tried repairing permissions and restarting iphone to no avail

I think in iPhoto there is a clear cache option in the file menu, if not then go to preferences then uncheck open iphoto when a camera is connected, then discount connect your iphone and quite iphoto. Connect your iphone sync to itunes, then open iphoto and check to see if they are there
