Alright well I have a couple questions about something that most people would think would be simple but I'm having trouble getting iPhoto to cooperate. Alright well i have 18,000 iPhoto pics which i know 40-50% are duplicates. I can waste alot of your time explaining(imported 2 times, titling different) why i have so many or i could just ask the question, ok so here it goes.

I have different rolls of film in iPhoto that contain the same picture. So for instance roll 128 has 200 pictures in it, while roll 129 has 150 however 75 of those pictures are the same, but since they were not imported by iPhoto together this makes it very difficult to see images side by side in the thumbnail view. I was wondering if anyone knows a way to combine rolls possibly this would save me SO much time. I'm getting the new iPod so I kinda gotta start cleanin up this library now, i have been dreading this daunting task for month, I just wanna gain access to my pictures again!!!!

Edit: Ok so i tried moving everything to sort by date and this puts images right next to each other since they have the same creation date, this should save alot of time, still however does anyone know of something i can do to allow iPhoto to remove all dup's???

Edit x2:Is there a way that I can delete the original when deleting the photo? For some reason after i completely organized the 10K pics i had. I exported them to disks and to my external HD. After importing the problem i had with the dup's occured from all of the originals i had from resizing and froms ones i deleted. I understand this is a fail-safe for people who delete photos but then really want them, but guess what if i delete them i want them gone forever, anyone know how to delete originals for good through iPhoto?

iPhoto Diet is a freeware Applescript Studio application for use with Apple's iPhoto. It may help you eliminate duplicate photos.

Who do i have the feeling i'm gonna run this and it's going to save me hours???? Thanks so much fayans!

This is EXACTLY what i was looking for, i only wish it was within iPhoto itself, but none the less thanks you!

Alright well i installed iPhoto diet and it seems like an awesome program. I for whatever reason though keep having it crash on me. I have 17K pics and i know many of them are duplicates, so when i run iPhoto diet it takes forever for the bar to even move a little bit(we are talking HOURS). I set it to run while i was at work and it was the only program running at the time. When i got back 8 hours later the program was closed and iphoto was open, but with no changes. So i re-ran last night when i went out and let it run all night, same thing i woke up this morning with the Diet program closed.

So finally today i ran it all day and just now when i sat down to check out macrumors i got an error message saying iPhoto Diet "Unexpectedly Quit" I love this programs concept but i just can't get it to run all the way through anyone have any ideas????

Can anyone take a stab at my question i really really wanna get this program to work properly!

Try Duplicate Annihilator instead (http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/18748), worked better for me at least.
