Iphoto import vs Photo Stream

photo stream will push new photos from my iphone 4s to iphoto on my mbp
but photo stream is slow.

if I import from the iphone by plugging it in to the lap top (which is way faster) will that duplicate photos ?

there is a setting in iphoto for photo stream that will let you either auto-import to your iphoto library, or not. if you uncheck the option to auto import, you will be able to choose which photos from photo stream you want to import, or not. or, you can plug in your phone and import only the ones you want.
