iPhoto library and external harddrives

I have an original Mac mini with a 40 gb HD. I also have over 80gb of photos on an external HD. I have successfully redirected my iTunes library to my external HD but cannot figure out how to do the same with my iPhoto library. Is this possible and if so how is it done?

fyi, I am running iPhoto 5.0 and OSX 10.4.2

Much easier than iTunes:

To move the iPhoto Library folder to a new location:

1. Quit iPhoto if it is open.
2. Drag the iPhoto Library folder to the new location.
3. Open iPhoto. An alert appears that says iPhoto cannot find the iPhoto Library.
4. Click Find Library.
5. Locate and select the iPhoto library you moved in step 2.

I know in iPhoto 6, you have options similar to iTunes, where you can have iPhoto copy the photos from the HD to the iPhoto library when you import them, or just add them to the library without having them copied to your library folder.

EDIT: Also, do yourself a favor and update your OS X. There are a few security fixes that would be most beneficial.
