iPhoto on new Apple ID

Here's the story:
I had an Apple ID linked to my old Yahoo account, and I had iPhoto installed on that Apple ID. However, in 2016 I started with a new Apple ID on a separate email. Now I am trying to get iPhoto back. I attempted to log in, but had forgotten the password. I went to sign into the Yahoo account, which I did remember the password to. However, they wanted me to verify with my recovery email. Problem is, my recovery email is my military email, which I cannot access anymore. So I am out of luck.

I have seen things about installing an iLife 11 trial and getting on the App Store and updating iPhoto to the latest version, but this has never worked for me. Does anyone know if and how I could get iPhoto again?
 
iPhoto is dead and has been discontinued by Apple in March 2015. The new kid in town is Photos, which was very poor at the beginning but has certainly managed to catch up. Is there any chance for you to switch to Photos instead, or are you dead set on iPhoto?

I could probably switch to Photos, but there are some things I don't like about it. It's not that there's a huge missing feature, it's a ton of really small things. For example I don't like the fact that faces are now circles instead of boxes.

I may try and convert, but I figured if I could find iPhoto easily I would just stick with it instead.
 
Man, I fought photos for weeks. It felt like I had to put a square peg in a circular hole. Then I found out that I could just take all my pictures and keep them in dated folders. Now I just use referencing to point to the picture in a physical folder. I also struggled with dates not being correct. I massaged the dates of the pictures already in dated folders using exiftools. Long story short, photos has some issues but once you learn the problems and work arounds and loosen your requirements - it can be pretty powerful.

I have had issues with picture dates being off, but only by a day each time. I may try to migrate to Photos, since it seems to be the best option currently. I do have a problem with the massive slowdowns caused by the metadata caching, but since I don't add a ton of photos at a time it's not a huge issue.
