Hi there,
I have a Mac os x G4 10.3.8. After 2 years, I still have not figured how to exploit my photos in a Word document. I know how to export photos in Word, but once it's in it, I can't drag the picture where I want, nor arrange several pictures on one page, etc.... very frustrating. The "Format Picture" window comes and offers options, yet it does not help me do the job! When you think about it, it should be as easy as a breeze...I figure, there must be a way but I just can't do it. Does it have to do with the way I save my pictures as (JPEG, TIFF,...)? Or, do I have to buy a specific software, which would be the only way to do what I want (that would really suck). I now need to master this for professional reasons, so my patience is running out...

Cheers!

Can't you just drag the picture onto the desktop? or are they in a different format? if so you could just use preview's "save as..."

You need to set the options in Format Picture so that when it wraps, it's 'square' or 'tight' rather than text top and bottom. Going into Advanced and unchecking the 'lock' box can also help.

It's still tough though - I loathe how Word thinks it knows better than you what you want and where you want the picture to go.

Perhaps waiting to see what Pages 2 brings at MWSF might be best!

Word is absolute pants at handling any more than a few images - they fly about all over the page, and sometimes off the page as well, when you least expect it.
Simple alignment can be done with the alignment toolbar buttons, but setting the wrap as Applespider suggested is better.
Better still would be to use Appleworks or Pages, or there's a free DTP program called Ragtime if you don't want to splash out on InDesign.
