I'm in the process of scanning in many many photos from my pre-digital days. iPhoto, however, in the menu under Library doesn't have a category for years before 2003. It's merely Early Photos. My photos go back to the mid-80's and I'd like to be able to have them organized. Is there a plug-in for this? Obivously I could create Smart Folders easily enough, but I thought someone out there must have designed a plugin to have it say something other than 'early photos'

You could use the little calendar thingy at the bottom. The little up and down arrows to the sides of the bar that says "Calendar" will let you flip between years, and then you can click on the year number to show only those photos. It's not quite as convenient as having one of those yellow icons, but maybe that will do it for you.
