iPhoto query: help needed!!

A question from a beginner-user of iPhoto:
When I burn say 100 photos from iPhoto onto a CD-R why does the MB increase from (for example) 350MB to over 500? Then when I take the CD-R to get prints the number of total photos increase and there are more than the original number (eg.some photos become duplicated). I had 100 photos on the CD-R and wanted to print them all but when I went to the kiosk, I found that there were 180 photos on the CD-R. Why?

Yep, a potentially annoying feature of iPhoto and disk burning. iPhoto saves your original photo file, and then if you make any edits to it (cropping, straightening, etc) it makes a copy so that you can always 'revert to original' if you want. Nice feature.

However, if you then burn a disk straight from iphoto, it burns both the edited and the original copy onto the disk, and if you've only made minor edits, these are damn hard to tell apart on one of those photo booth machines.

The solution, if you're planing to take your pics into a shop, is to burn just the pictures you want from iPhoto onto a blank disk - you can do this by dragging the pics directly out of your library in iPhoto and dropping them on the disk icon on the desktop, then selecting burn by trying to eject the disk.
