iphoto to Mac album files missing

I have an ipod photo and have many stored images on it. The images transfer and appear on the ipod in the albums I have created but when I access the photos from my PowerBook G4 laptop the pictures are filed in year files and sub batch files. There is no way of finding pictures according to my albumn names. Can anyone help here?

You can only look at the albums within iPhoto. To save disk space presumably, iPhoto doesn't create folders for each album with a copy of the picture in it. Instead, it uses a database to tell it that x albums exist and y pictures are included in it using the year/date folders to record the photo locations.

There are a few plug-ins you can get for widgets, automator etc which will let you find, copy or use the photos in a certain album.

How can I organise my photos on ipod so I can search?

Ok so ipod doesn't do albums. I wouldn't have bought it if I knew this. It is currently impossible for me to search for a single photo among the hundreds of files created by ipod that bear no relation to the way I recall them by album name. Is there a solution? I move the photo files to the ipod because my hard disk is so full and memory is at capacity for machine (Powerbook G4).

The iPod picture viewer simply isn't designed to act as a storage device for all your pictures. You could use the iPod in disk mode as a second hard drive to store your pictures if your main hard drive is getting full, but if you're going to do that, you'd be way better off with a dedicated external hard drive (it would be cheaper, too, and with more storage capacity). Plus, images stored on the iPod in disk mode aren't viewable on the iPod's screen. iTunes + iPhoto makes a small thumbnail resized specifically for the iPod's screen to optimize viewing and save space, regardless of whether or not you tick the "include full-sized images" option.

The iPod's picture capabilities are strictly for use as a digital picturebook, not as off-line photo storage.
