Do you need iPhoto 9 to have Photo Stream capabilities?... or will it also work older versions?

You will need the iPhoto that is not released yet.

maybe I'm confused... or maybe my question was confusing.

I currently have iPhoto 8 (released on January 2009)

iPhoto 9 (released October 2010) is the current version....

I'm I ok with iPhoto 8? or do I need to upgrade to iPhoto 9?

You'll need iPhoto 9 but, as posted above, the point version of iPhoto9 you need to work with iCloud (9.2), isn't released yet.

If you get iPhoto9 you'll get the point upgrade free when it's released.

I've got iPhone 8.1.2 does that mean I will not be able to use PhotoStream and that I'll have to pay for version 9?
