What is the possiblity.....

iPhoto2, iMovie3, and AppleWorks7, on or before MWSF???

it seems that that some software updates are due!

hmm. software updates are due, but I don't think we'll see any of them before MWSF, but I wouldn't be surprised if all three were introduced at MWSF:)

MacOSRumors.......Friday October 4th.

iMovie 3.0 is nearing the beta stage, and should be in the hands of Mac users in November, according to sources. Among the many new features will be much-asked-for widescreen format support, to complement the expanding family of wide-screen displays on Apple computers - along with another much-requested feature, Chapter Marks.

Apparently the new Powerbooks and new Apple Displays are not going to ship as soon as previously thought; the change-of-quarter turnover that has ended several of Apple's promotions does not end until November for Apple Europe. We also now believe that the two introductions will probably be separate; the Powerbooks might premier later this month, but the new displays may wait for mid-November when other products, possibly including iMovie 3.0, are intro'd. This may have something to do with the fact that Apple is slated to introduce at least one new widescreen display, and iMovie 3 is designed to support widescreen format video.....

iMovie 3

I like the rumor of wide format (I'm assumimg 16:9) but where are any native, under $3000 16:9 mini DV camcorders? I read a rumor somewhere that JVC has got one in the works, but otherwise, that's it.

I also like the Panasonic AG DVX 100 which supports 24p, and 16:9, but only with cropping.

The DV Expo is in December in Los Angeles, and I've heard rumors that iMovie 3 and Final Cut Pro 4 will be available for demonstrations and pre-order at the expo.

Are you kidding, nearly all camcorders in Europe record in 16x9 anamorphic. I have two, one a Sony PC9 about 2 years old and another Hi8 which is at least 6 years old!

I have been waiting for 16x9 support since iDVD came out. All the DVD's I burn are burnt in the wrong format and I have to manually force my TV to change aspect ratios:mad:

This problem is a typical US centric problem and Apple did not look at the big picture. Europeans need 16x9 support almost before anything else. I know everyine wants chapters, but for US iDVD is almost useless without 16x9 support.

Widescreen but not anamorphic

JW actually this is incorrect. These Cams record Widescreen by cropping the pic and using less pixels. True Anamorphic recording squeezes the picture into a standard 4:3 CCD and expands correctly on a widescreen TV. Century Optics sells a Anamorphic Lens for many Cams but it's like $800 itself so that's a testament to how difficult it is. The problem really is Zooming and probably a few other issues. We'll be waiting a while for Consumer Anamorphic Cams.

Well I may not have an anamorphic lens, but I do have a full frame squeezed up pictures! The fact remains that for Europeans who largly have 16*9 TV's there are VERY few 4:3 sets sold today. iDVD is a real problem as it encodes DVD's in the wrong aspect ratio!

And where did you get the idea about iMovie 3?

What a worthless post. So he makes a comment concerning the status of an app mention in the topic? And you rag on him? That's mature.
