Hi, just wondering if anyone could help me out regarding the 3rd generation iPod (one with the 4 separate buttons above the scroll wheel). Manage to revive mine by buying a new battery from it, but it appears it isn't charging through my USB cable.

Will it only charge/sync by firewire? Is there any way to charge/sync it via usb as I normally connect it to my MBA which only has USB ports, if not I can use the iMac's firewire, but it would be more of an inconvenience. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Hello,
in fact USB is for syncing only in this generation. there is a cable which allows connecting to USB Port on PC/Mac and a FireWire charger at the same time. it has been included with the 3G iPod, but are hard to get these days.

best regards!
