my 80 gig iPod's hard drive is failing i think -- when i restore the iPod and copy songs back over i hear the hard drive sound like it's hitting a bad sector and it stops spinning, then it cranks back up. is there anything i can do without opening it up and getting a new hard drive in there? it hangs on only certain songs -- my guess is that they're in the same place on the hard drive (same sector) -- and it won't respond to anything except for a reset. also, the hard drive sounds like it's going back and forth over the same area -- sort of clicking, but not loudly, just moving back and forth over the same section on the drive.
i hope this makes sense. my thoughts are hard drive failure, and i'm wondering if i should open it up and replace the hard drive (it's out of warranty
) or take it in and let apple take care of it?
