Hey guys.
Alright, I've got a simple situation here. I'm being given an iPod 5G 30GB for my birthday and I can order one accessory to go with it.

I've decided between either this case:

Or an Apple Universal Dock and the included remote.

Which would you choose? Thanks!

I don't know about the Apple Universal Dock, but the case you have chosen is, well... rather ugly.

Well the case itself doesn't matter. My main question here is buy a case or buy a dock?

Do the case, You'll be really upset if you scratch/drop your ipod without protection.

If you want a dock with a remote, just get a Mac capable of Front Row ;)

forget those get a iPod speaker:p

I would say get some type of case, i have the sock, just to stop "in pocket" damage, but if i drop my iPod, there is nothing to save it, so i'm very careful with them

I just got my 5g ipod (upgrade from my old 3g) and although I have speakers, I find that a rarely use them, wheras I use the case 24/7. I have the agent 18 case which keeps it slim and protected at the same time, which is nice because A) I need to cary it in the pocket of some tight-ish jeans and B) I often forget which pocket I put coins into.

Case= awesome investment.

I bought the dock and was never pleased with it, it comes with absolutely nothing except some spacers that won't fit the 5G...the spacer you need comes with the iPod when you purchase it. Video quality sucked on my LCD, since I was playing the compressed television shows I had purchased on iTunes. Go with a nice leather case with a strong belt clip, a screen protector, microfiber lining, and an opening so that you can access the wheel.

edit: or you could pick up some shure e2c's:)

i vote for the case, if you're only going to get one accessory. i only disagree with this if you find a cheaper, but still protective case that you can afford yourself.. in which case, have your parents/whoever pay for the dock, and then buy the case yourself.

agreed... since your not paying for it you may as well try getting a vaja case :D

those vaja cases are pretty sweet looking, but at that price, i would almost want a case for my case! haha. i prefer cheaper cases that i won't become attached to. that way, if they get scratched/damaged, i don't feel bad (only glad that it wasn't the ipod itself!).
