What is power requirement for iPod Classic Late 2009 (Grey, 160 GB, Thin).
I am out of USB ports in my computer and
I've two AC adapters
  • 5V, 500 mA
  • 5V, 600 mA
Which one should I use. Please suggest according to your experience.

I usually only use an Apple one on my iPod but if I had to choose id use the 600ma hour one

You can use ANY USB wall plug. The only differences are the length of charging time since some have lower amp ratings than others.

Since iPod classic is meant to be charged with computer I guess 5V - 500mA is correct power rating.
USB 2 provides upto 5V - 500mA and USB provides upto 5V - 900mA.

Let me know if this approach is correct.

I don't know why this is a discussion? Any USB plug can charge a USB device. Whether it charges more high powered devices is another thing, but there won't be any harm in testing each one out to see which one works better for you.

It does not matter at all. The iPod's charging circuitry will only take in the maximum current it wants, so using a higher rated charger will do no harm. You could charge it with an iPad charger if you wanted.
