Hello,
Just tonight I plugged in my iPod to charge it for the first time in like a week. (It has been sitting for about 4 days). And when I plugged it in, iTunes and my iPod froze while moving the 1 out of 25 songs. I had to force quit iTunes and force restart my iPod. I tried it 2 more times and the same thing sometimes it gets to the 5th or 6th song. Then I tried a restart and a trash of the iTunes prefs. Samething happened. I don't really know whats going on I am fully updated on Tiger. I also have the extra 2 or 3 years warranty at Best Buy. Any suggestions?

How old is the iPod? I had this same type of problem when my iPod's cable bit the dust.

Its the newest one, with the click wheel. Just the normal 20gb one. I think I might try a restore or whatever it is.

EDIT: Problem solved. Did a software restore on the iPod. Thanks for all of your help people.

EDIT #2:
IT ACTUALLY DIDNT WORK IT GOT ABOUT 50 SONGS IN AND STOPPED AGAIN AND FROZE. WHAT SHOULD I DO?

If it's not the cable: Make sure you have both the latest version of iTunes (4.8) and the latest iPod Updater (2005-03-23). I had a lot of trouble when I tried syncing my mini with an updated iTunes version and old iPod software back when my iPod mini was new. I, too, couldn't sync it with more than a few songs at the time and had to hard reset the iPod frequently. Then I used the latest iPod updater and all my problems went away... ;)

Edit: Maybe the iPod troubleshooting basics and service FAQ can come in handy... ;)

Fixed, it finally synced and worked properly after many tries. Thanks for all of your help again.

The exact same thing has been happening to me too. The iPod will update to a point and then crash iTunes. Thankfully it starts from where it leaves off so eventually i got a fully-synced iPod but still, Apple needs to get their act together on this one.
