iPod app search very slow

One of the main reasons I decided to purchase my 64gb 3G pad is because of the speed. Between the demoes I saw and reviews I read and actually playing with one in store the speed was fantastic. Very refreshing compared to my lenovo s10 with snow leopard. However, actually getting a 50gb music library on this guy slows down the iPod app by a grievous amount. If I search for an artist, it takes 15 seconds to respond and show the artist results. That is a long time. Anyone else experience this. I guess I didn't expect it even with a large library and I am rather disappointed. Any ideas on how to modify my library to remedy this? I was hoping to eventually install the ipad in my car for music and navigation.
