iPod ipod automatically ejects

Hi there,

I have an ipod classic 80gig running version 1.1.2 mac and whenever i plug it into my macbook or the family imac it loads up fine but then soon as itunes opens and the ipod displays in the source sidebar it automatically disconnects itself (even though it is is disk mode) every now and then I get lucky and it will stay connected long enough for me to copy some music on to it, but thats quite rare.

Cant get it to stay connected to even restore it. funny thing is it still works perfectly fine.

Ive tried using a different usb cord but still no luck.

Any ideas?
