iPod ipod backlight not working + re Register ipod

my uncle bought a ipod nano for super cheap and the backlight wont work / turn on is there some way to fix it? also how do I re register the ipod nano

Well, first off, what version of iPod Nano is it? Have you made sure that the iPod is charged?

its a 4th generation ipod nano and yes it is charged

If it is the 4th gen, then the warranty is already gone so registering it won't do you much good. Also, here's a guide to replace the display.
