iPod iPod broken backlight

I have the 5th gen iPod video and my back light will not turn on. I have an iPhone with all my music on it and I've been using this only to play music in my car. I hadn't used it in about a month and I went to turn it on and the back light looked all funky with like different colors and stuff. I reset the iPod and ever since then my back light has not worked. Everything else is working fine however.
Is there anyway to fix this? I don't really care if I have to take it apart or anything because the warranty is long gone and I don't really care if I break it.
