I made the awful mistake of buying an iRiver, which didn't stack up and was quickly resold. Now, significantly less stubborn, I've decided it's time to get an iPod. I'm leaning towards 30+gb in storage. So, here are the options I've thought of:

1) A used 4th gen. 40gb player on e-bay
2) One of the ipod photos (though I probably won't use the photo feature much...)
3) a refurb. 3rd generation player being sold now through the Apple web site.

I'd appreciate "buying tips" from anyone who has experience with any/all of the above models. The player will be used primarily in the car and for working out.

Thanks!

I'd definitely buy the iPod brand new. I think you ought to go with the 30GB Photo as this is in my opinion the most likely to be able to accept the software upgrades that will be issued later.

Wait until the end of the Summer before buying. iPods will be updated by then. All iPods will have the color screen and the iPod Photo will lose it's name.

2 Ways To GO:

1.(the one I would go for)- Wait for a month or to and wait till the new iPods are released.

2. Get the 30gig iPod photo. I dont have any pictures to put on it but the larger screen is much easyer to use IMO.

Yea it s@cks that Apple is not offering a 40 gig model. If I were you, I would get a 30 gig Photo :)
