iPod iPod cases: any work with dock?

So, Apple is replacing my iPod under warranty, and since I'm getting a nice shiny scratch-free iPod I thought I might actually protect it this time. The only problem is that I use the iPod dock, and every iPod case I've seen makes the iPod too big to fit in the dock. Anybody know of a case that's thin enough to dock the iPod with it on?

Provided the the dock isn't plugged into AC when you have the iPod in it using an iPod in the dock with a case is fine.

BUT

if you are going to be charging it while in the case and dock, you really shouldn't or you very well might be calling Apple again soon.

In the instruction manual for the iPod it says not to charge the iPod in the case as it may result in overheating, causing damage to the iPod.

Sad. Thanks for the heads-up on that... Is that warning only for charging the iPod with the dock while in the case, or for charging the iPod at all? It seems inconvenient to decase the iPod every time it needs to be charged...

So if that is correct, none of the rubberized cases on the market should be left on your ipod when you charge it? Whether it is being charged via a dock or by plugging the cable directly into the bottom of the ipod, I assume the heat generated should be the same, right?

I've never owned one of those types of cases so I don't have any personal experience. Anyone else that has one of these style cases ever ahve an issue?

Yes that is correct, Apple says to not charge any iPod in the case.

Sorry, just had to get that out. Worst case ever.

Buy an iSkin then just poke the iPod out through the bottom of the wheel hole.

Not very elegant but it gets the job done.
