iPod IPOD changed from English to something else

Woah! This was wierd. I just took my U2 ipod out of storage ( i have been moving) and switched it on. The battery seemed low which was normal. Probloem is that all the menus etc came up in Chinese/Greek/Cryliic letters. Just a bunch of symbols. How do i get it back to English? The hold button was off so it may have come on and off in transit. If I can't understand the menus, how do I pick the option that controls the language?

I don't know if this is the best way, but you could restore your iPod software (erasing everything on it) and then when you start it up for the first time, it will ask you to select a language.

How do I do that? and if i do that i just need to connect it to my PB to download the music again right?

OK, assuming the menus are the same as mine...

main menu,
4th from the top
13th from the top (3rd from bottom)

and select your language


Hope that does the trick

Well, it would probably be easier for you just to change the language on the ipod rather than resetting it and thus losing all your music:

On the main menu, the 3rd menu from the bottom is 'Settings'

Once you've got onto that page, scroll all the way to the bottom and move up again to the third from bottom option which is 'languages' Once you've got that menu up you should be able to see the different languages and select 'English' *

Either, that or a crash course in Chinese is in order!

*By the way this was done on my 4G iPod - I'm not sure if it is different on other ones if you have a different model.

I'll give it a shot once I get home. It's a U2 IPOD. How wierd though. It doesn't even look like a language. Just some symbols. That's why i guessed cryllic.

The easier method is to hook the ipod up to your computer, head to Apple.com and download the latest iPod software, and reset the iPod. Then, unplug it and select the language "English," (duh...) and then reload all the songs.

look in your manual(what a concept)...

it will give you the instructions to restore it back to the english...
