iPod Ipod Classic 160: Volume will not reduce below 1/3

Hi,

Might be an obvious fix but any input would be much appreciated.

I bought the ipod in december as a present. Almost immediately this issue has appeared.

The volume does work from full volume down to 1/3 of the bar. The bar continues to nothing but the volume does not decrease.

Other than that it works fine if a little slow in general.

Any ideas??

Have you tried restoring the iPod through iTunes? This will reload all of the software on the iPod. You will have to sync all of your music again from iTunes also.

If this doesn't work, I would take it in to the Apple store. If you just purchased it in December, it is still under warranty, and they should be able to fix it or replace it for you...

Yes I have tried restoring it and reloading the software. However the problem persists.

I bought it online, can i take it to the apple store?
