My dad has a white 4th gen 20gb ipod classic. It has stayed in our house or on our Bose speaker system ever since he bought it. I just put the ipod on the speaker system and it wouldn't play. I restarted it and it wouldn't play and it started making noises like something inside it was trying to load but couldn't. (its kind of hard to explain the noise :/ ). I restarted it another time, and it came up with the dead ipod picture and the apple support site. I decided to restart it once more before I went to the apple support site, and it played, but when I tried to change the song it would go back to the previous one. I took it off and it was making the same noise.

So hopefully someone knows what's wrong with this thing...

Thanks :]

When you hold it up to your ear, is it like a whirring and then a clicking noise? If so, the hard drive in there is having some problems and may be on its last legs.
