iPod iPod Classic 5.5 gen volume suddenly increases?

Sometimes when I'm skipping songs, the volume would increase suddenly and I would have to take my earphones out right away. At first, I thought that my thumb might be scrolling on the click wheel without me noticing, but even with my thumb still and in place, the volume would still shoot up when I would skip a few songs. What might be causing this?

Dunno, could be the click wheel. I would start by getting a new one, they're cheap in price.
