I know I have asked a similar question before, so I will try it a slightly different way to hopefully get a response to this seeming mystery.

I would like better sound quality when I connect my ipod 7th gen classic 160 gb to an external source like a car stereo or stereo in my home.

I have read that one can do this, & I do this through the headphone jack, but I have read that the sound is better when the ipod is connected with a line out from it's dock connector.

So I got an adapter line out that fits on the bottom connector on the ipod with a jack on it to connect to an external source. this is what I have; http://www.sendstation.com/us/products/pocketdock/lineout-miniusb.html

but it absolutely does not work, I tried plugging some headphones into it, & no sound at all. I tried connecting it to an external source & nothing as well.

The odd thing is, I got a hold of another ipod 160 gb classic, this one a 6th gen, & the pocket line out worked with it.

does anybody have any idea what is wrong? is the 7th gen ipod defective? or is there something in the settings that need to be adjusted? or does the 7th gen simply not support this? I looked at the description of the pocket line out, & it says it supports 6g & 7g ipod classic.
