Have both of the above (well will have the iPhone tomorrow). iTunes (library)currenly working fine, but is currently 20GB in total. Obviously, iPhone has only 16GB.

So, when I connect my iPhone tomorrow, what do I need to do beforehand, so that iTunes does not try to downlaod to iPhone?

Just tell the iPhone (in iTunes) that you want to manage your music manually, rather than automatically.

That sounds good. So if I set to manual, then I just alternate between iPod and iPhone and just donlaod manually when iPod connected?

Also, how will apps get updated on iPhone. Is this automatic regardless?
