Hi guys. Sometime ago I got a couple iPod Classic from eBay. Not a big deal: both displays were broken and one HD didn't work. There were issues with the motherboards as well, so I gave up for awhile. Last week a friend of mine gave me two scrapped motherboard, so I decided to try again to fix mine.
I just performed the whole test routine on the Silver iPod (reboot then press Select/Previous keys): every step passed except for the HD, "can't open device - ERROR DIAG HALT" or something like that. The same HD works perfectly on the Black iPod: I suspect there's a problem on the HD connector, what do you think?

The Black iPod has another problem: the Home/Select button doesn't work, so I can't test it in any mode. The switch is ok, and it's connected to two resistors on the flip side of the motherboard (R261 and R232). But after the resistors I can't follow the traces any further... I guess they're hidden under some IC. A schematic or a service manual would be really handy...

Any help is really appreciated. Thanks in advance.
