i just bought an iPod classic, and my fingernail made contact with the click wheel while i was scrolling, and it got a little scuff that isn't coming off. is this a normal problem with the iPod classic?

Its not reall a problem but is normal. it is because you rubbed you nail against the flat finish which some how made it shinier. All Ipods with the touch click wheel do it. If you rub you nail on flat black paint it will do the same.

Yes it will scuff; just get a scroll wheel protector to prevent it next time.
